Gearbox to Develop Halo 4 for the Xbox 720?
Word on the web has exploded today with the juicy rumor that Gearbox is already in pre-production on Halo 4, a game that Microsoft wants to be a launch title for the next Xbox (which Kotaku has neatly coined the “Nextbox”).

With Bungie admittedly uninterested in creating Halo games ad nauseum, and Gearbox one of the industry’s top FPS developers, we’ve certainly heard crazier rumors. And there are few licenses that would get a studio chieftain to inadvertently slam his own games in development. Whatever the project is, Pitchford has said he’ll be directing it himself, adding, “When you find out what this is, you’ll likely agree that I can’t oversell this one.” Nope, you probably couldn’t Randy. Overselling Halo is Microsoft’s job anyway; you guys just make with the shooting of the aliens … no, the other aliens.
This will probably be simply a rumor for a long time to come, but at present offering, I’m inclined to believe it. Not that we should be getting hyped up for Halo 4 yet (a likely 2011 or 2012 release)–there’s too much good stuff to play right now!

Halo has done a lot for gaming… but I personally am not a huge fan of the series. I’d like to see a new take on the Halo universe on the next generation of games…. hopefully, it launches on PC as well as the ‘nextbox’ because I’ve always loved my 360, but I’m not looking forward to buying a whole new console with new accessories, games… memberships, etc.

Well it would be a stupid idea for the new xbox 720 to come out. Only difference is that it is round, smaller, but there is no point i am a 12 year old boy who has 2 xbox 360’s and creating the xbox 720 wil be stupid. The reason it is stupid because if you have both xboxs the stuff from the preaviouys xbox would not work so it is just stupid to create it. there would be a point of making it if halo 4 was on both xbox 360 and xbox 720 ut nif it is just on xbox 720 it would be pretty pointless

I agree with the other people but why would people or microsoft want to make a new console? (to get a lot of money selling them) but looks like they would need to upgrade it not just with looks because the xbox 360 can already be used on HD TV’s and computers. What would the xbox 720 be able to do? just have better looks or the system will have different limits like when halo 4 comes out it will only be playable on xbox 720 and cannot be played on 360’s. Thats kind of lame for microsoft to want to do that or the creaters of them or it. What i think is that it might be a rip off to everyone in the world but the creaters would get all the money. (I dont really know what im saying or anything but i just made this comment, I play halo 3 online) ^_^

Although i do not want to buy a new box. Francesco, It would not be stupid for Xbox to launch a new console. Its a vicious cycle where technology is always booming. People want to make money, and a damn good way to do that is by coming out with the next big thing. thats how its always been and thats how it always will be.

This is the worst thing you people ever came out with ,so do not do IT. You guys should keep the xbox 360 because lots of people already have the xbox 360. (I HATE THE XBOX 720) from RUGER.
