Konami asks Reviewers to Omit Technical Details of MGS4

If you haven’t been checking it out, last week Stephen Totilo of MTV’s Multiplayer Blog was running several posts on different issues surrounding games reviews.  He’s got several interesting tidbits, but I thought that Friday’s was the most intriguing.

According to rumor, MSG4 is sporting two cinematic scenes approaching 90 minutes in length, and large install times of the PS3, two technical details that Konami asked print reviewers specifically not to mention in their review of the game.

EGM has taken action against these sanctions by refusing to review the game.  It’s an interesting spin on something that happens all the time–publishers throwing their weight around to influence how review scores come out.

It’s all part of the game, but lately it seems as if one of two things are happening–either these limitations are becoming more and more restrictive, or the gaming media is becoming less averse to telling us about it.

  1. Not sure what to think. The PS3 could be a great system but with having a shabby online service, long load times before even starting a game, not many titles released in one year, or a controller that really fits the hands [comparing to XBOX360] I’m not sure what I’ll do now. Maybe sell my pre-ordered 80 gig w/ MGS4.

I thought the PS3 would be a better choice since it using it’s Bluray drive for games and not just movies.

Are you more happy with your 360 ?
