Lost Odyssey 2–in the works?
It seems that Lost Odyssey has had ample enough success to warrant a sequel, something I must say I’m happy about. allrpg.com broke the story today, catching a bit of a quote from a Microsoft exec who said that the series will grow as time goes on.
As you know, I was very complimentary of the game last week, and now some are speculating (or is it more like vain hoping) that LO could perhaps become the 360’s Final Fantasy. Lost Odyssey is very much a throw back to games like FF VII and X, which is why it was a hit with many gamers, but also took some heat from others. It’s a strong title, and I’m very interested in seeing a sequel, either in the Final Fantasy mold or as a direct follow up to the original, but the series would need a few more successful iterations under its belt to begin to touch the legacy that is embodied in the Square-Enix series.
On the other hand, many believe that Final Fantasy’s quality is declining, or at least plateauing, and should Lost Odyssey have a successful sequel, it could be seen as a series that is the ascendancy, ala Final Fantasy IV-VII.
What do you think? Does Lost Odyssey have the makings of a top tier RPG franchise, or is it missing that special something to become a lasting successful series?

im a die hard rpg player starting with crystalis way way way back, ill have to say this game is awesome, as far as being a final fantasy killer, not there yet, but not a bad start. Hopefully there is a LO 2. Love this game so much started playing through again and still absoulutely loving the cutscenes.

Such a good game. i think its up there with final fantasy but jsut needs a few tweaks to make it up to the standard of the final fantasy series.
would be excellent if they make a LO2.

I have just this second completed it Lol on the credits screen atm. I can safely say it was an amazing game of countless hours of fun and exploration it definitely deserves a sequel it is absolutely necessary. It is the best rpg i have ever played even better than fable and possible better than the up coming fable 2 and in my opinion better than final fantasy so defiantly needs a follow up

Final Fantasy X was the game that got me into the whole rpg genre in the first place, it was fun, had an excellent story (now who didnt love beating the crap out of seymour, or wondering what the hell “Sin” was!), and it had the most amazing graphics!
Playing through Lost Odyssey now, i cant help but think to myself over and over, that this is the best bloody game i’ve played since ffx. The graphics are awesome, theres enough flash back stories to immerse you up to your neck in this amazing world, and the story is continually taking new bends. Not making a sequal to this game would be downright criminal, and it would be the perfect franchise to rub in the nose of Final Fantasy as well as anyone dumb enough to buy a PS3.

I think it is right up there with Final Fantasy. If you look at it this way, it comes from the man who created Final Fantasy series. I also see many aspects in the game that can you bring into a sequel. I just wonder if he going to keep the name Sed into the next ones like he did with Cid in the final Fantasy series?

yeah i admit lost oddessy was the shit. Final Fantasy X also got me into turn based games. They seriously need to make a new lost oddessy, along with a KH3 for the ps3, then it would definitely beat lost oddessy. One thing i disliked about it was that it did not have special moves for characters like how Tidus on Final Fantasy X had an overdrive move. But overall I gave it an incredible 9.5 out of 10. What did u guys give it?

Lost Odessey wsa the greatest game in a long time,great story,could use some improvement(armor,traditional experience,free roaming map)
but it was at least a 8 were as the last handful of Final fantasy games have been 2’s at best.FF12 was truly terriable And i think its really insulting to compare LO to FF.
there hasn’t really been a good FF since the snes days.

Love this game. I’m not all the way through it yet, Just got a 360 : \ The game is 100% Deserving of a sequel, or a prequel (They have 1000 years to fill in!) It’d also be nice to see somthing with completely/alot of diffrent characters, like Final Fantasy does.

first of all i am a diehard (Jrpg) turned based battle fan.seeing lost odyssey surprised me very much. i love this game its the best thing since FFX…i too believe lost odyssey deserves a sequel.i would like to see many more games from sakaguchi-san but with a turned based battle system..i hope he will remain true to this kind of battle system and not do as square enyx did to the FF series and to all of her new games!!they slaughter the games with the innovations in battle!!! just keep that god-damned turned based shit!!!its the best!!

Wow, Lost Odyssey is amazing. If they come out with a second, I’d buy it the day it came out. I’m still on the first disc though, but even though, the game is incredible. I think they could do many things with a LO 2. I’m looking forward to it. =)
Also, I give LO a 9/10.

Iv just started playthrough 2, loved every second of it, the story was brill, indepth look at the characters, emotional, it hocks you from the get go, cut-scences were great, the first one has to be my fav, jus how an Rpg should be, LO has the makings of a great francise, FF has been there, done that, so its time for something fresh, LO 2 will be great if they refresh it, but not change every thing as i think that would be stepping in the realm of FF, then you couldnt tell the 2 apart.
but overall the game is magic.

Absolutely amazing, just got to one of the cutscenes near the end now and it is absolutely mind blowing, they must bring out a sequel. I could totally back this game as the FF on the 360. Have a full endless series like FF. Although this is way better. The cutscenes are amazing, the best game for cutscenes i do believe.
I just cant see how they would extend the storyline further, its all in one game right there but i hope they do

Lost Odyssey is the best game since Shenmue. That’s how amazing it is. LO needs a sequel – and as soon as humanly possible. I haven’t had this much fun, happiness, joy, sadness and tears with a game in years!

alright it was kinda insulting to compare LO to FFX. My bad. Even though this game took me 4 days to beat, and i am not a game freak, it was one of the most coolest games ever. i doubt they’ll come out with a sequel, but ya neva kno.

Lost Odyssey was amazing, it had a flawless story, and the graphics were absouletly brilliant. They HAVE to make a sequel or I will die. Kaim needs to brought back as the lead role, and mabye the return of Seth.

I was never really that into FF, and I could never figure out why. And now I do. I didn’t like FF because it wasn’t LO. LO2 absolutely has to be done. New world, a few old charecters (jansen, kaim, and anyone in ming’s bikini/dress thing), more items (armor, more weapons, different combat items, etc.), and manning up kaim a bit are all things that I think should be changed. And honestly, am I the only one who thought kaim was more feminen than emo? And Gongora’s bleached hair freaked me out too… anyway, FF can screw itself, LO is where it’s at.

love this game just started on disk 3 about 10 min ago…. i hope to god they bring out a LO 2 will deff buy it the same day lol

I think the immortels ( kaim, sarah, ming and the other one cant remeber her name atm lol ) should all go back to there would and try fix there would or some thing like that lol probs not a good idea but hey i think it would be good … hope fully will be completing the game tonight … by far best game i ever buy and would recommend to everyone ….. sorry if there any spelling mistacks i cant speel too good lol

I want a sequel!
Lost Odyssey is my most favourite game of all time and I think it’s better than Final Fantasy though, I do love FFVII and FVIII.
There are so many things that they can do with Lost Odyssey to make it into a massive series like Final Fantasy, but I hope they don’t get bored of the whole Turn-based engine like Final Fantasy did.
I’d love to see more of Kaims dreams or maybe you could see the other immortals dreams aswell.

Lost Odyssey is awesome!!!!! I completed it about a week ago and the day after I started playing again (new game save plus, of course). It still is great and a sequel would make my life complete. One thing I disagreed about with the game is Sarah, I honestly didn’t see the point in her, she just anoyed me!! Kaim and Seth would of been a much better couple!!! What were the developers thinking!!!!??
Anyway…I think they should keep Kaim as the main character. They also should bring Seth Back!!! She was my favourite character and my friends say I’m a lot like so Im like yay!!! As in she gets angry quite easily but also is free spirit. Sed needs his Momma!!!!
They should keep most of the old characters in but also introduce a few knew faces!

Yes go for it I say. This game did pretty well for it’s first appearance.
I must say I was impressed it was like the good old PSOne days all over again. I hope they make a sequel cause I’ll be there at launch. 360’s got both this and FF 13 now. Which truly makes it the system of choice for us rpg gamers.

ya awesome game with an awesome storyline. But I think it wasnt as good as FFX. They also shouldnt have included mack and cooke in the gameplay. It made the game look very very childish.

Yes the game is awesome I’ll give it that no doubt, but it will be a tough make to overcome the legend series that is final fantasy. However if it keeps up and brings sequel after sequal to the table like this LO then it will have no problem but in all FFX wasnt the best it would have come along the lines of VII.

I never played an RPG since NES FF, Long time, I know, However, when i got this game, I couldn’t stop playing, I almost cried in some scenes, it was beautiful. I logged over 100 hours in the process and loved every MINUTE of it. I don’t know what I’ll do if they don’t come out with another one, and judging by EVERYONES response, there will be. There hasn’t been 1 person who said there shouldn’t be. Greatest RPG ever!

I first played ff8 it was the best i even lernt to read from playing ff games while i waited 4 a new ff game to come out i i killed time by playing ff7 having played ff8 to death finaly ffx was on shelfs n of cuz i rushed out and got it best thing i played since ff8 but after that to me the dream was over tried to get in to ffx-2 i geuss it was all right i played ff12 4 about 2 mins n i hated it but L O has been the best game i have play since ffx n made me remember y i love RPG’s again I SAY L O ALL THE WAY!!!!!

i think lost odessy was amasing the only downfall of it was that u can get through the game with a low level and then a pain in the butt to gain the levels for certain bosses. i like tht the bosses were challenging but sum were too diffecult…rpg games r the greatest games out but i dont like the combat in most of them…the was lo2’s combat should be is like fable or fable two and not like final fantasy…and also lo2 should keep up with their way to keep players to watch cut senes bcz this was a game tht u felt depressed and happy and angry at times…soo lo2 should deff have a great stoy line and hopefully they add on more and more things to it so it would take at leest 2 months to beat bcz i feel tht rpg games r too short bcz i gett to attached to them

The only thing that annoyed me was the hardware freezing up every now and then especially with the save points sometimes being far off. The game is VERY challenging and awesome, as expected from the creator of Final Fantasy.
